Fran Morton
Change Management Practice Leader & Sr. HR Consultant
Fran Morton is a member of The HRC’s HR Practices Team. Her 25+ year HR career includes both internal organizational assignments as Chief HR Officer and as external consulting project manager, most especially in the areas of HRIS, vendor selection and governance, and change management. Her experience spans an array of industries including manufacturing, healthcare, pharma, retail, outsource service providers, and financial services. Over the past decade, she has expanded her expertise to include operations analysis, process improvement, and Six Sigma.
Her recent projects have focused on major IT installations, upgrades, and service platform implementations where she successfully acted as the project manager and “bridge” between the IT technical and the business operations/HR implementation workstreams. She effectively oversees the technical build, test, and delivery cycles as well as the HR and operations implementation functions. Recent project examples include:
- Global company implementing a court-ordered divestiture requiring set-up of stand-alone HR function. Assessed likely buyer requirements, designed needed HR functions and capability, assessed HRIS requirements and then conducted RFP and selection of a service provider and managed the implementation and HR function transition to successfully meet the court’s requirements on schedule;
- County government needing major HRIS system upgrade. Directed analysis and decision-making process to decide on HRIS system, prepared integrated transition project plan and trained in-house staff to implement the project plan;
- Global company needing to establish a global approach to HRIS and HR service provision. Completed a series of projects to establish strategy and timeline for integrating North American operations into the organization’s global outsource IT systems and shared services functions. Managed project to determine feasibility of point outsourcing for HRIS and selected HR functions in US and Canadian operations.
Early In her career, Fran joined Citibank and quickly rose through the specialist ranks in Learning and Employee Climate Surveying and then into HR generalist and CHRO roles in healthcare and manufacturing. After serving as Chief HR Officer for Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ, she made the change to a consulting career. As a consultant, Fran has been tapped as project manager and expert resource for PricewaterhouseCoopers HR Consulting as well as outsource advisory and RFP project manager for IBM Business Consulting Services [including HR assessment and advisory work for healthcare clients] and EquaTerra (now KPMG Outsource Services) where she managed major HR and learning outsourcing projects for US and global clients, then later founded ALTO Consultancy LLC. Among her projects were HRIT in the Warner Lambert/Pfizer merger, follow-on projects with Pfizer, due diligence, pricing and deal structure for a number of prospects in the services, hospitality, and financial services industries as well as warehouse automation and labor management system analysis; service provider platform upgrades; mergers and acquisitions in the retail, services, and IT outsourcing industries.
Fran has developed and delivered presentations and seminars for HR and other professional societies as well as client-centered workshops on a number change management, vendor governance, achieving outsourcing objectives, and successful integration of merged enterprises. Fran earned her degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois in addition to various advanced project management and outsource contracting courses with PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM Business Consulting Services and PMI. She is certified as a Six Sigma Greenbelt.
