Gary Decker is an experienced HR leader with extraordinary talent for organizational change management as well as assessing, developing, and acquiring effective leaders and teams. He is an influential executive and management partner who is adept at analyzing, developing, and successfully implementing business transformation across local, regional, and global organizations in a wide variety of business units and functions. Gary’s expertise spans entertainment, financial services, government, manufacturing, nonprofit, and professional service sectors. He is proficient in bridging communication, solutions, and impact in collaborative efforts with HR, Finance and IT given his leadership and proven expertise in all three functions. Additionally, he is a certified coach with expertise in working with executives and managers.
Gary has an extensive background and 30 years of Fortune 500 experience in senior leadership roles including Global HR Business Partner/HR Operations, Global IT Partnership Manager, and IT Program Director/SAP Lead for Sealed Air Corporation. Previously, he served as Finance & Accounting Manager and Senior In-Charge Accountant for Deloitte. His expertise includes:
- Executive Coaching utilizing integrated approaches of Curiosity and Intuitive Interviewing to identify and drive significant transformation in the confidence and clarity of decision making, communicating, teaming, and change management for leaders and their organizations. Gary guides multi-level leaders across a wide variety of organizations and disciplines to focus on Mission, Accountability, and Results. He is an ICF accredited coach with a deep and diverse set of tools and experiences he draws upon as an engaging, insightful, objective, unaffiliated, supportive, and collaborative partner.
- HR, Organization Design and Development including Strategic Partnership and Coaching, Organizational Communications, Organization Design, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, Talent Management & Development, HR Operations & Compliance, Data Analytics, Compensation, and Benefits rollouts. Within Employee Engagement, leadership in assessment, analysis, strategizing, and development. In Organization Design, redesigns in Finance, IT, and a strategic Supply Chain operational transformation exceeding $50M in annual savings. Gary also successfully implemented PeopleSoft and SAP HR information systems.
- Organizational Change Management is a wheelhouse strength including business case development, team leadership, project and program planning, continuous improvement, system selection, and implementation at local, regional, national and global levels. Examples include a global IT SAP ERP implementation across more than 30 sites, Supply Chain transformation, and development of a ‘one company’ shared services structure for Finance, HR, IT, Legal, and Communications for a global, multi-divisional organization.
- Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestitures holds particular passion and accomplishment for Gary. He led five functions with 1500 employees through organization design and integration of a large acquisition which generated $50M in operational synergies and 5% reduction in headcount and determined the organizational structure, resourcing, and services model for an HR team to support a large divestiture with over 6500 employees in 30 locations.
- Systems Implementation and IT Security is an area of deep expertise for Gary including SAP ERP and HRIS rollouts. He also led the acquisition, scoping, design, and implementation of the Hyperion global financial consolidations system into numerous global legal entities and led a team of IT security experts to ensure effective technologies, practices, and policies for a global Fortune 500 manufacturer, including the development of an effective business case to support investment priorities.
Gary earned his MBA in Finance from Pace University and a BA in Economics, with a CPA Option from Rutgers University. He is certified by HRCI as a Global Professional in HR (GPHR), by International Coaching Federation as Professional Certified Coach (PCC), and by the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching as a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) and Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP).
