Senior HR and Change Management Consultant
Michael Taylor brings broad-based corporate and business line HR generalist management to The HRC Team, with deep expertise in HR operations, system analysis and design, workforce development and planning, benefits, change management, project management, and outsourcing. As a seasoned HR business partner, he focuses on collaboration within HR as well as with executive and management teams to drive strategy into cost-effective, metrics-driven solutions. Additionally, he has a proven track record in planning and oversight of large-scale transformation projects. Mike has led international components of a global HR transformation for a major retailer, a turnkey HRIS/payroll transition for a Fortune 500, implementation of performance management systems, design and implementation of compensation systems, compliance reviews, merger integration, development and implementation of HR policies and practices, union-free initiatives (with no successful union attempts), and numerous RFP efforts to outsource services to realize higher organizational value.
He has consulted to a variety of industries with organizations including Brown University, Capital One, Dart, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, ChevronTexaco, Cognizant, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Conseco, the County of Riverside CA, Exelon, Hebrew Health Care, Lane Construction, Marriott, Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers, Oak Hill, Providence College, Regional YMCA of Western CT, Rohm and Haas, Service Corporation International, Super Core Systems, Synovus and the University of Minnesota.
Prior to independent consulting and joining The Human Resource Consortium, Mike served as a Human Capital Advisor at KPMG where he provided industry-leading HR Transformation and Shared Services consultation as well as at Pelorus Advisors where he provided world-class cost control consultation in organizational assessment and change management for healthcare and legal industries. His preceding experience as a Senior Consultant with EquaTerra included work with public and private corporations in financial services, hospitality, petrochemical, and service industries, including service provider selection, negotiation, and development of governance models. Mike’s internal corporate experience with Dow Chemical and Union Carbide included divisional and functional leadership roles including the development of a Services Procurement organization, several business-line department reorganizations, change management, union and non-union labor relations, compensation, performance management, and benefits.
Mike earned his Bachelors in Psychology from Hamline University, has completed graduate coursework toward his Masters in Industrial Relations at the University of Minnesota, and was awarded SPHR and SHRM-SCP certification by the Society for Human Resource Management. He has served as a Guest Lecturer on HR Outsourcing for the American Productivity and Quality Center (APQC), American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), and from 2005 to 2017 for West Virginia University. He also has served as a past member of the Advisory Board for Radford University’s College of Business and Economics. He co-authored white papers on outsourcing strategies and pitfalls with Michelle Morgan entitled “Good Guys or Men in Black” and “Fly with the Eagles or Swim with the Ducks.” Mike maintains active membership in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and has served on the SHRM Tri-State (CT, MA, RI) Conference Program Committee.
